Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines [Theater]. The buzz on this wasn't very good, but we thought we should see it in the theater anyways. Its obvious that this wasn't directed by Cameron. Two stars. Click below for my full review. We saw this movie in the worst theater in Western Washington. The dank, run down Alderwood theaters. 10% of the seats were broken, it was dank and the movie was merely using stereo. But enough foreshadowing...

Ringu

Ringo [DVD/Netflix] Same story, slightly rougher than the Hollywood release. Two and a half stars. Click below for my full review...Having already seen the Ring, I thought it would be worthy to see the Japanese original. We watched it with my mom who, unlike Jenn and I, did not need the subtitles.

I spy

I Spy [DVR, netflix]. Midly funny, a few good laughs, but overall just a midly interesting movie. One and a half stars. Click below for my full review...My hopes weren't high on this movie going in, and they weren't exceeded. Owen Wilson was his usual aw-shucks, yet semi-cerebral self that we've seen in Shanghai Noon/Knights, Armageddon and other films. Murphy was his usual over-the-top self that we've seen in everything he's been in.

Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo (Theater). Took the kids to see Finding Nemo at the Grand Cinemas in Lynnwood. Very entertaining movie, Three stars. Click below to read my review...I guess its finally happened for me. I watch a CGI movie and I'm not distracted by the CGI but fully-engaged by the movie itself. Only at a few points was I paying closer attention to the CGI F/X than I was to the movie, and even then, there wasn't much plot development (intentional?).

The Rookie

The Rookie (DVD, Netflix). Typical Disney feel-good movie, I think its the first time we've rented a G movie that wasn't for the kids. Two and a half stars. Click below to read my review...The movie is well done, and amazingly true to the story. Its the story about a talented baseball player who missed his first chance and managed, by almost a miracle, to get a second change.

The Banger Sisters

The Banger Sisters [DVD, Netflix]. Yet another suffer-through-through-it-in-the-name-of-couplehood movie. Only one character saved this movie from the doldrums. One and a half stars. Click below to read more. I prepared myself for the worst on this rebel-chick movie (akin to Selma and Louise, a movie I've, so far, been spared from).

Girl, Interrupted

Girl, Interrupted [DVD, netflix]. Winona and Lara Croft share feelings at an Asylum. One and a half stars. Click below to read more...Not something I would have picked to watch at the theater, via rental or even on TV, but these things do happen when you're married.

Hannibal

Hannibal, [DVD from Netflix]. A bit slow, nothing near the pace or suspense of Silence of the Lambs. Two and a half stars. Read my full review by clicking below... I was not conviced with Julianne Moore's portrayal of Clarice Starling at all. She had the accent, but not the conflicted soul that was evident in Foster's original. Anthony Hopkins, however, was spot-on in resurrecting his chilling, yet oh-so-cool Hannibal Lecter, M.D.
